Ashley and Alyssa began basic American Sign Language (ASL) as babies to communicate their basic needs before they were even able to speak.  Now, years later, they have become passionate in learning how to sign.

In February, 2013, Ashley and Alyssa, joined the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles official Color Guard Team.  When it was known that they could sign, they were requested to sign the Pledge of Allegiance, the Girl Scout Promise, and the National Anthem for the GSGLA Annual Voters' Meeting.

Since that time, Ashley and Alyssa have continued to take ASL lessons and have learned the Girl Scout Laws, all the Color Guard commands, God Bless America, and Proud to be an American.  They are continuing to take lessons and hope to be able to interpret someday.

Ashley and Alyssa are also very active in their home Girl Scout Troop, where they have always sold a minimum of 500 boxes of cookies each, and in the 2014 & 2015 cookie seasons, they each sold 1,000 boxes of cookies, which they in turn donate a portion of their proceeds to a chosen charity.  Their Girl Scout Troop also host an Annual US Flag Retirement Ceremony each which in April of 2014, in their troop and the community helped retire over 1,300 US Flags, and this past April, at our 6th Annual US Flag Retirement Ceremony, they honorably retired over 1,400 US Flags.

Ashley and Alyssa are also very dedicated to thanking our veterans for their Honored Time and Service, whenever and wherever the opportunity arises.
